Doug Molin, the Eastern Service Area Director for Tactical Operations, is responsible for coordinating traffic flow for the National Airspace System along the East Coast of the US. He provides national guidance and policy for air traffic procedures, issues, performance and metrics, interfaces with customers, as well as the Department of Defense and the Transportation Security Administration.
Following four years of service in the US Marine Corp as an Air Traffic Control Specialist (ATC), in 1982 Doug continued his ATC career at the San Francisco Bay Tracon and Tower in California. From there, he moved to the Indianapolis Air Route Traffic Control Center where he gained experience working as Front-Line, Operations, Quality Assurance and Airspace Managers, as well as acting in the Deputy and Facility Manager positions. He was a member of the National Quality Assurance Evaluation Team and Acting Manager for Tactical Operations Midwest, prior to being appointed to his current position in 2003.
His demanding Director position keeps him traveling most of the time, but Doug calls home both Indiana and Georgia. He and wife Paula have been married for 33 years, raised eight children and now enjoy their ever-growing number of grandchildren. Doug is passionate about life – family, people, working, traveling, camping, golfing, officiating International Wrestling at the world-class level, and when time and weather permit – road king excursions.
