Manager, Aviation Planning, Massachusetts Port Authority

Boston Logan, along with several other major US airports, has taken a leading role seeking a national, consistent approach to protecting local airspace. Boston Logan has been working to protect local airspace by adopting a composite map of critical airspace surfaces. The composite map is designed to provide guidance as well as inform the FAA and airport users of potential conflicts between proposed tall structures and airport operations. The composite map will also pro-actively inform the local public on existing or planned development zones and their relationship to airport operations. The presentation will review the local experience as well as the technical approach to developing the composite map.
